DIY Read Counter for the Book Lover

Join us for a creative night out just for book lovers! During this workshop you’ll create your own Books Read This Year tracker—a fun and decorative piece to display your reading progress all year long (year after year). Personalize it with your name and make it uniquely yours!

📚 Plus, we’re hosting a Book Yankee Swap! 📚
Bring a wrapped book from your shelf (new or gently used) to join the swap. It’s the perfect way to share a favorite read and go home with a new one.

⏰ 5:30pm **This workshop lasts approximately 2.5-3 hrs
📍 Hammer & Stain York County, 489 Main Street, Suite 400, Springvale ME
📖 Don’t forget to bring a wrapped book for the swap!

We will help guide you through the process from start to finish. No experience necessary! All supplies are included to paint your counter. We will have various paint colors and paint markers to pick from.  

Registration will allow for one person to make one project.

How to Register:

  1. Choose your Book Counter Design
  2. Input if you want to add personalization with your name
  3. If coming with friends please write their names in the corresponding box 
  4. Confirm your Order

** You must EMAIL us at: Hammerandstainyc@gmail.com if you cannot attend a workshop, you will be given a store credit if you so choose, there are NO REFUNDS. If you do not show up for a workshop and do not notify us, you forfeit your payment & project. We only hold projects for up to 30 days - after 30 days you forfeit your payment & project.

How to Register

  1. Choose your project and design options from the drop down menu.
  2. If applicable include any relevant personal information needed to complete your stencil such as name or date.
  3. Confirm and Agree to our policies and terms.
  4. Add to Cart and checkout.

Cancellation Policy

  • Due to the customizations of ALL of our workshops, there are NO REFUNDS for workshops.
  • If you cancel with at least 48-hours notice, your FULL reservation fee will be turned into a store credit that can ONLY be used for a future workshop (within 90 days).
  • Same day cancellations or no-shows will NOT be granted a credit, however you may pick up your project as a take home kit within 30 days of the missed workshop. Please email or call us to cancel.
  • If you do not show up for a workshop for which you have a spot reserved, as well as, neglect to pick up your take home kit, you forfeit your full payment and project.
  • Hammer & Stain reserves the right to make any amendments to this policy at any time. Notification of any changes will be published on this page. If you have any inquiries regarding cancellations or any of our other policies please contact us.

Guest Policy

Unless otherwise specified in the workshop description, unregistered guests are not permitted to attend any workshop, whether it is a public workshop or private party.

Bringing an unregistered guest will result in the guest being asked to leave as this interferes with the attention and experience of our registered makers.

Makers can inquire about purchasing a guest seat but the request will be subject to approval.

By completing registration you are agreeing to these terms.

Wood

This is a natural wood product, so your sign will have natural blemishes, such as random cracks, chips, and knots that give it character! Some peeling may occur. 

We will do our very best to supply as smooth a wood piece as possible, but due to the nature of the material, we can make no guarantees. 

Please keep in mind, no sign is absolutely perfect, as it is hand crafted, but it will certainly be wall worthy!
