About Us

Liz Shields, Owner
For 6 years I was an elementary and middle school art teacher. I enjoyed sharing my love of the creative arts with my students.
About 3 years ago, I began working part time at Hammer & Stain North Shore as an instructor. This experience helped guide me to a new dream.
I have since left teaching and I have become my own studio owner here in Maine. I continue to learn and grow as I make strides on this dream.
Your support is welcome and much appreciated in helping me on my journey in studio ownership!

Tango, Quality Control Manager
Tango came to work for Hammer & Stain when he was rescued by Liz. First, he was strictly quality control whenever Liz was making samples for another studio, but since Liz has started a studio of her own, he has been promoted to Quality Control Manager!

Wren Cooley, Friend & Volunteer Instructor
Wren has become a fixture at the Hammer & Stain York County studio! She loves to make all different kinds of projects and her enthusiasm for crafting is infectious. Wren adds a sharp sense of humor, welcoming spirit, and happy energy. We are so happy to have her on the team!

Sabrina Archer, Friend & Volunteer Instructor in Training
Sabrina has been a frequent flyer at Hammer & Stain studios here in the Northeast. She is a hugely creative individual who loves to make beautiful things. With a huge smile, fancy nails, and bubbly personality, we look forward to having her on the team at Hammer & Stain York County!
